International Day of Mathematics (IDM) 2020
AIMS Ghana marked the maiden International Day of Mathematics on 14 March with students, tutors and staff at its campus in Accra. Activities included discussions on the importance of mathematics to real life, poster sessions on the applications of mathematics in health, games, cryptography, finance etc. (See photo gallery below)
Although the main event which was scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana campus in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics was canceled due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, AIMS Ghana ensured that the essence of the declaration of 14 March was felt in Ghana and the world by marking the day on campus and through social media and radio discussions.
The day was climaxed with the cutting of a beautiful Pi cake baked by an AIMS alumna. The cake was decorated with the concept of Pi.
