The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Ghana, is organizing its second edition workshop on Stochastic and Application, Research and Training (START). The workshop is scheduled to take place from 19th to 22nd February, 2018 at the Center, Biriwa, Central Region.
START workshops provide excellent platforms for graduate students, young and senior researchers to increase, and share knowledge in the areas of Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, and in designing internationally competitive research proposals and effective communication of research findings.
This workshop will focus on initiating collaborative research among researchers at universities in Ghana, Africa and beyond. The program will include: Three mini courses: Credit risk modeling and risk management; Stochastic optimal control with applications to finance; and An Introduction to Risk Theory. Presentations will be made by participating researchers.
Distinguished Lecturers and Facilitators for this workshop will be coming from prestigious universities in Europe and Africa such as the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-senftenberg, University of Giessen in Germany, University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, University of Pretoria in South Africa, and the University of Ghana.
Thirty-three researchers from ten African countries will be participating in this workshop.
Supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Ministry of Education and Research, DAAD Foundation, is hosted by Olivier Menoukeu Pamen, the German Research Chair at AIMS Ghana; and a Reader in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Liverpool.
