AIMS Ghana organized a Transformative Leadership Training on 7th November 2024, aimed at empowering Mastercard Foundation Scholars with the skills and mindset needed to become agents of change. The event brought together distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights on leadership, industry readiness, and personal development.
Setting an inspiring tone for the day, the event began with a warm welcome from AIMS Ghana’s Academic Director, Dr. Rhoda Hawkins. In his opening remarks, Dr. Prince Osei, Centre President of AIMS Ghana, highlighted the crucial role of ethical leadership in fostering meaningful societal progress.
Madam Araba Botchway, Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Ashesi University, delivered a compelling keynote titled “The Ethical and Entrepreneurial Leader: A Catalyst for Change.” She emphasized the crucial role of integrity and innovation in driving sustainable development and inspiring impactful leadership.
Following her, Mr. Richmond Okyere, Associate Managing Consultant at Bridge-Tailor, led an insightful session on “The Industry and Transformative Leadership: Practical Skills for Success.” He provided actionable strategies to help scholars translate academic knowledge into practical skills, bridging the gap between education and the demands of the professional world.
In a thought-provoking discussion on “Work-Life Balance: Experience from a Woman in STEM,” Ms. Larisa Akrofi, Program Lead – Education and Skills at the Mastercard Foundation, shared her personal journey. She highlighted the importance of resilience, self-care, and adaptability in maintaining balance while pursuing a successful career in STEM.
The event featured a lively Q&A session, where scholars engaged directly with the speakers, deepening their understanding of leadership principles. Mrs. Beauty Beatrice Kwawu, Program Manager at AIMS Ghana, delivered the closing remarks, commending the scholars for their dedication to leadership development.
The training concluded with a networking session fostering connections among participants. It was also a transformative event, reaffirming AIMS Ghana’s commitment to nurturing future leaders who are poised to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
