Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025 with Team Bonding Activities

AIMS Ghana commemorated the 2025 International Women’s Day under the theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” The event highlighted the importance of collective action in ensuring equal opportunities for women and girls, particularly in STEM fields. As part of its commitment to gender inclusion in academia and research, AIMS Ghana hosted a Team Bonding Activity for female staff and researchers. The initiative fostered connection, collaboration, and empowerment in an informal setting.

The event opened with a team bonding lunch, where attendees engaged in discussions on career progression, mentorship, and work-life balance. Ms. Rhoda Nana Safowa, External Relations and Public Engagement Manager at AIMS Ghana, emphasized the significance of female representation in STEM and the need for mutual support in both professional and personal spheres.

Following this, a thought-provoking discussion on the IWD theme was led by Dr. Rhoda Hawkins, Academic Director. Participants shared personal experiences and explored strategies to overcome gender biases in STEM, the importance of mentorship, and ways to foster a gender-inclusive work environment.

The day continued with engaging activities including mini golf, bumper cars among others. A gratitude-sharing session further strengthened the team, leaving all in attendance inspired and motivated. The IWD 2025 event reinforced solidarity among female professionals at AIMS Ghana, boosting confidence and commitment to gender inclusivity.
