Nono Saha Cyrille Merleau is a Cameroonian scholar who has had all his education in the French Language. He was having his PhD at the University of Ngaoundéré, Cameroon when he had his call to AIMS Ghana. He abandoned his PhD studies for the Structured Master’s Program at AIMS Ghana because he needed to acquire English Language proficiency. This he was able to accomplish after four months of stay in Ghana due to the intentional pairing system that is implemented at the institution. Right after AIMS, Cyrille had the opportunity to be enrolled in a PhD studies at the Max Planck Institute of Mathematics in the Sciences (Leipzig, Germany). His research area is in Evolutionary Computation.
Cyrille believes that this is definitely a successful step to his dream of an Africa with independent scientific and political institutions, industries, technology and infrastructure. In the next ten years, he sees himself actively involved in one of the industrial sectors, creating new enterprises that will transform and develop Africa for generations to come. This is because he strongly believes in the achievement of SDG’s 8 and 9; Decent Work and Economic Growth and Industries, Innovations and Infrastructures respectively.
