Supervision for the Regular/Structured Master’s Program
The AIMS Structured Masters Program is a three-semester program that has the third semester strictly dedicated to research works to be done by our students with supervision from lecturers/researchers worldwide. Applications are open to lecturers and other expert researchers to suggest topics from different fields in the mathematical sciences. These topics may come from Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Physics, Climate Science, etc.
AIMS Ghana invites past/present/potential lecturers &/or supervisors to propose and supervise a project for any of the current AIMS MS.c in Mathematical Sciences students during the Research Phase of the course from 29th April-21st June 2024. To propose a project please give a title and short description in the Regular Master’s Supervision Application Form before the deadline of 26th February 2024.
Supervision for the Masters in Mathematical Sciences for Teachers (MMST)
There are also openings for past/present/potential lecturers &/or supervisors, to supervise the Masters in Mathematical Sciences for Teachers (MMST) program. The teachers who are part-time students will commence their essay phase from 26th February to 19th July, 2024. If you have a suitable educational or mathematical topic for Senior High School teachers, kindly submit your proposal via the MMST Supervison Application Form before the deadline of 31st January, 2024.
The suggested project should allow students to learn about research processes and structures as they work on a more open-ended problem. For most of our Master’s students, this will be their first experience with regard to undertaking a research project within a short time frame of 8 weeks. For this reason, students will mainly be expected to show evidence of independent work on a mathematical problem and not precisely work that will be meant for publication. Topics are welcome from all areas of the mathematical sciences.
We will be excited to have local and international supervisors, as supervision will take a hybrid format (online/in-person). Our tutors will also be available here at the Centre to give additional in-person support. If Interested in supervising a number of students or will be available to visit in person, kindly get in touch via our information desk to discuss whether you can be flown in for in-person supervision.
Applicants will be contacted by the end of March to know whether their project(s) has been selected for current students to pursue.
