Established in 2012, AIMS Ghana is part of the Africa Institute for Mathematical Sciences Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI) network of Centres of excellence for postgraduate training, research and public engagement in mathematical sciences. AIMS Ghana is also a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence.
AIMS has been providing outstanding education to Africa’s top talents since 2003 – AIMS graduates develop the skills, knowledge, networks and inspiration to take up careers in teaching, industry, business and governance.
Its unique training program teaches analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and exposes students to many applied fields which are of relevance to Africa’s development, such as finance, health, food production, climate change, natural resource management, technology, et cetera.
AIMS currently operates six centers in Africa – South Africa, Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Rwanda. There are now over 1600 AIMS alumni at Masters Level and almost 500 of them have proceeded to PhDs. AIMS is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the African Union, by African governments and by UNESCO.
