AIMS Ghana has officially welcomed a new cohort of students for the 2026/2027 academic year to its flagship Master’s in Mathematical Sciences programme, marking the beginning of an intensive year of academic learning, research and personal development.
During the welcome session, the Centre President, Dr Prince Osei Koree, introduced the students to the history and vision of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS). He also outlined what they could expect during their one-year academic journey at AIMS Ghana and encouraged them to take full advantage of the opportunities available within the AIMS community.
Dr Koree introduced members of the AIMS Ghana staff to the students, highlighting the different roles they will play in supporting their academic work and overall experience at the Centre.
The Associate Director for Academics, Dr. Angela Tabiri also provided detailed information about the structure of the programme, academic expectations and the support systems available to help students succeed throughout their stay in Ghana.
The interactive session gave students the opportunity to ask questions and receive further clarification on academic and student-life matters.
A particularly significant highlight was the admission of three female students who previously participated in the AIMS Ghana Girls in Science and Mathematics Programme. Their progression into the Master’s in Mathematical Sciences programme demonstrates the long-term value of initiatives that expose young women to opportunities in mathematics and science and support their advancement into higher education.
The new students now join AIMS’ growing community of scholars, researchers and alumni who are using mathematical sciences to address Africa’s most pressing challenges and contribute to the continent’s sustainable development.
AIMS Ghana warmly welcomes the new cohort and wishes them a productive, rewarding and transformative academic year.
