Statistical physics and stochastic theory constitute a framework for complex nonequilibrium phenomena. This synergy is essential to model noise and dynamic living systems in biophysics, neuroscience, and beyond. This school will provide students key knowledge on nonequilibrium physics.
The school provides fundamental knowledge on nonequilibrium physics, offering a rigorous overview of stochastic processes, transport phenomena, and the rudiments of non-equilibrium statistical physics. Participants will also explore cutting-edge applications spanning the physics of carbon nanostructures as well as theoretical and experimental biophysics. Requiring minimal prior familiarity with these advanced topics, the school aims to equip participants—including Master’s and PhD students as well as early-career postdocs—with groundbreaking research methodologies in modern physical sciences. The primary objectives of the initiative are to foster scientific excellence across Africa, expand international collaboration, facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge and technical expertise, and promote meaningful interactions between emerging African emerging talents and leading global researchers.
