The goal for the celebration of the International Day of Mathematics is to demystify mathematics and to encourage the interest of many students and the general public in the subject. Specifically, AIMS Ghana seeks to ensure that the 2023 IDM celebration promotes Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity. Mathematics is for everyone and as such no girl child, boy
child, physically challenged, poor, young, old and for that matter a minority is excluded from the celebration. It is against this background that AIMS Ghana chose to organize a number of activities in the northern part of Ghana (known to be a less developed area of Ghana) to mark the day.
Objectives
The celebration of the International Day of Mathematics is centered on the following:
- To create awareness to the general public on mathematics and its applications in everyday life.
- To highlight the potential careers in Mathematical Sciences to students in the basic and senior high schools focusing particularly on girls in senior high schools.
- To demystify mathematics and create an avenue to showcase the impact of mathematics to the development of people and the society.
