Artificial Intelligence Engineer – ParallelScore

Emmanuel Owusu Ahenkan is an Artificial Intelligence Engineer with ParallelScore – an emerging AI company that invests in mobilising, developing and deploying engineers with proven expertise in technologies such as Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning and AR/VR. With his current role at ParallelScore, his work focuses on Computer Vision in Sports (Soccer). His job entails gathering sports data and building AI and ML models that predict the modalities of players and other stakeholders. He also serves as a facilitator on the “Google Explore ML with Crowdsource Program”.

These roles were made possible due to the exposure gained from the African Master’s in Machine Intelligence (AMMI) program he enrolled in at AIMS Ghana. After the AMMI program, Emmanuel interned with Prof. Marleen de Bruijne – an Erasmus MC, at the Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam, Departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine in the Netherlands. In this internship, he researched on Self-Supervision via Triplet Loss in Medical Image Segmentation. He also got the opportunity to intern with Prof. Dr Klaus Obermayer at the Neural Information Research Laboratory of the Berlin Institute of Technology, Germany, where he researched End-to-End learning of human exploration behaviour. As a community giveback, Emmanuel serves as the Director of a Non-Governmental Organisation (Obri Komfo Freedom Empowerment) that provides Girl-Child Empowerment through sports and environmental sensitisation on cleanliness and healthy living.
