Matthias Dogbastey is a second-year PhD Mathematics student at The University of Alabama. Having lived in a fishing community all his life in the Western Region of Ghana, he aims to bring a lasting solution to challenges that usually befall them. At The University of Alabama, his area of research interest is Applied Analysis, PDEs, and Numerical Analysis with application in climate/coastal studies.
His work is valuable to society as it affords him insight into the impact of climate change on coastal communities and helps to make predictions useful for policy formulation. AIMS Ghana provided the platform, exposure, mentorship, and relationships needed to achieve this milestone. Among other things, the spirit of Pan-Africanism, Excellence and Community Service were fanned ablaze.
