Workshop on Mathematical Biology – Enhancing Research Collaborations

The Mathematical Biology group at the AIMS Ghana Research Center recently hosted a highly impactful workshop on August 29th-30th, 2024, under the leadership of Prof. Nick Monk, the German Research Chair in Mathematical Biology. The event brought together 42 participants from around the world, including 19 researchers, who delivered insightful presentations on key topics in developmental biology, immunology, and epidemiology.

The workshop, funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, provided an exciting platform for postgraduate students and mathematical biologists to exchange ideas and showcase projects that use mathematical modeling to tackle complex biological challenges. Participants explored innovative approaches to solving real-world problems in fields like disease transmission, immune system behavior, and developmental processes, sparking rich discussions and potential future collaborations.

This gathering not only deepened the understanding of mathematical biology but also strengthened the global network of researchers dedicated to advancing science through interdisciplinary approaches. AIMS Ghana remains committed to supporting such initiatives that empower the next generation of researchers in Africa and beyond.
