Dr. Comfort Mintah is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) with the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Her work focuses on mathematics education, with an emphasis on supporting teachers and building strong learning communities.
She works closely with educators across Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda, with a focus on strengthening classroom practice. She is a co-director of the Helping Teachers Teach Mathematics Conference (HTTMC), where she works with teachers from across Africa on practical approaches to teaching mathematics.
Dr. Mintah also spends time in schools, working directly with teachers and students. These visits are an important part of her work and help connect ideas from workshops to what actually happens in classrooms.
She is involved in programs at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Ghana, including the Girls in Mathematical Sciences Program and the Master’s in Mathematical Sciences for Teachers program.
At Waterloo, she co-organizes Black in Math (BiM), which brings students together and creates space for support and community in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo.
Outside of work, she enjoys swimming and watching Korean and Chinese dramas.
