Mahadi Ddamulira is currently a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. This is a permanent faculty position that involves: teaching, examining and grading pure mathematics courses for both postgraduate and undergraduate students; supervision of pure mathematics research for both undergraduate and graduate students; mentoring junior staff; conducting pure mathematics research and community outreach activities. These roles have enabled me significantly impact society in STEM.
Completing studies at AIMS Ghana with an F. K. A. Allotey Meritorious Award in 2015, Mahadi continued to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics at ICTP, Trieste, Italy. He moved on from there for PhD studies in Mathematics at the Institute of Analysis and Number Theory, Graz University of Technology, Austria. His PhD research focused on Number Theory which he passed with Distinction under the supervision of Prof. Dr Robert F. Tichy and Prof. Dr Florian Luca. He was offered Post Doctoral Research position at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems in Saarbruecken, Germany.
For the future of Africa and what AIMS stands for, Mahadi returned home to take up the lecturing position at Makerere University, which is his current role. The exposure at AIMS Ghana gave him a good opportunity to explore all his academic abilities.
