Elizabeth Dadzie is a PhD student at the Department of Mathematics, University of Ghana. Her research focuses on the pricing and hedging weather-linked insurance derivatives for Agricultural goods, supervised by Prof. Olivier M. Pamen and Prof. Ralf Wunderlich.  The study aims to provide insurance derivatives (at a fair price)  for farmers to mitigate the risk they may incur due to bad weather conditions. As a predominantly farming country as Ghana is, this research also hopes to model and better predict weather conditions.

AIMS presented Elizabeth with the opportunity to meet her supervisor, who also happens to the German Research Chair of AIMS Ghana. Elizabeth met Prof. Olivier Pamen when she had her regular master’s studies at the Centre. She got to do her MPhil a year after her regular master’s. Through AIMS Rwanda, she got to be funded by IDRC for her PhD.
