On Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, President Barack Obama awarded Dr. Sylvester James Gates, a member of the board of trustees of AIMS-Ghana and Director of the Centre for String and Particle Theory, University of Maryland, with the National Medal of Science, , during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House in Washington.

Prof. Francis K. A. Allotey, President of AIMS Ghana, has been inducted as a ‘Fellow of the Nigerian Mathematical Society’. A seven member Delegation, led by the President of Nigeria Mathematical Society, Prof. N. I. Akinwande, travelled from Nigeria to Ghana to present the award to Prof. Allotey at the ‘Genome-Wide Association for Complex Diseases
