Seth Afari-Boateng started his education at a young age with much interest in Mathematics and hence found himself pursuing a Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics with Statistics at the Presbyterian University College, Abeti‑, Ghana. After his honours degree, he worked with NCR Ghana Limited, an IT/Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Manufacturing Company and PwC Ghana, a professional consulting. He kept the dream of pursuing higher education in mathematics which led him to apply for the AIMS Master’s program.
“The Next Einstein Initiative ensures that its core values which are Excellence, Respect, Pan-Africanism and Integrity are practised and adored by all candidates at its centres across the continent. AIMS has taught me a lot of soft skills aside the mathematical training I signed up for and has made me become a more rounded person for a brighter future ahead. After my programme, I was selected to participate in the 2nd AIMS-ESMT Industry Immersion Programme which gave me a top-up certificate in Business Management. I can proudly say that it is through AIMS that I had the opportunity to intern with a company and after which I was given a job offer as well.
My advice to young African scientists hoping to expand their horizon in mathematical sciences is to think of applying to AIMS not solely because of the quality mathematical training AIMS gives but the whole inclusive experience it offers to its candidate. AIMS is a very big family of which I am glad to have joined and still highly recommend.”
